Hello everyone,
Balance has become such a "buzz" word these
days. The balance between family life and work, having a balanced portfolio,
balance in decor and cuisine are even part of our world.
What we often fail to realize is that ancient
cultures have been talking about balance since the beginning of time.
Only now are we beginning to recognize these traditions as practices which
can guide us to true "Balance", if only we are open enough to receive
their gifts. The concept is easy to understand, but getting there and
achieving true balance takes considerable time and effort.
Through these articles, I try to bring
a sense of awareness to our subscribers, and ask only that you think about
what I am presenting. Some of the concepts and topics may be foreign to
you, and some may even be hard to believe. But I encourage you to keep
an open mind, and if there are bits and pieces along the way that you
feel you can integrate into your life, all the better. Give it a try and
see where the knowledge leads you!
Thanks for reading!
Donna

The Chakras
Ancient Vedic texts tell us of the "Chakra"
system, which describes energy centers within the body. These energy centers
are aligned with the spinal column in seven major points. Each
Chakra is associated with different areas of the body and is assigned
a corresponding color.
The first, or Base Chakra, is located at
the base of the spine and is associated with the color red. The main functions
associated with this chakra are stability, energy distribution, practicality
and physical survival. It is believed that the base Chakra is linked to
the adrenal glands.
The second, or Sacral Chakra, is on the
area of the body just below the navel. It is represented by the color
orange and controls the functions of exploration, emotions, creativity
and libido.
Just below the ribcage sits the Solar
Plexus Chakra, the third of seven. Its color is yellow and it is said
to be responsible for personal power, self-esteem and sense of identity.
This Chakra relates to the spleen and the pancreas.
Fourth is the Heart Chakra, appropriately
located in the center of the chest, and linked to the heart and thymus
gland. It is green in color and controls relationships, direction and
personal development.
The fifth Chakra is found at the throat
near the thyroid glands. Blue in color, it relates to communication and
personal expression.
The Brow Chakra (sometimes called the third
eye) is in the center of the brow. It is indigo in color and is linked
to the pituitary glands. The Brow Chakra is concerned with knowledge,
understanding, perception and mental organization.
The final Chakra, the Crown, is at the
top of the head and is symbolized by the color violet. The Crown Chakra
has ultimate importance as it maintains overall balance of the chakra
system and controls the channelling of energy into this system. It is
responsible for creating a sense of wholeness, and stimulates intuition
and inspiration.
When even one of the seven Chakras becomes
disrupted either from excess stimulation or inactivity, the effect is
profound, and malfunctioning of the remaining Chakras begins to occur.
In order to be whole and healthy on a physical, emotional and spiritual
level it is said that all of the Chakras need to be balanced.
Now for the hard part. If an imbalance
exists, achieving total health requires that you determine the root cause,
and remedy it! This is easy to say, hard to do, but in the end (well,
before the end preferably!) achieving synchronicity is the most rewarding
goal you can imagine. So, dedicate the time - you're worth it!
